In this four day workshop the participants will experience carving in various materials with different tools. From simple soft easy-to-start-with materials to the ones more on the harder side 😉
The aim is to simply learn and feel the possibilities that lie in the different materials.
The workshop is material based to learn and use skills and discover the fun in creating free 3-dimensional pieces in a subtractive way of working. The cat is already in the block!!!
Born in 1975 in Büdingen (DE), Alexander Blank owes his current career as an art jeweller not to an early vocation but to a fortuitous combination of circumstances. After discovering that the photographer he wanted to study with already had an apprentice, he introduced himself to his neighbour, who turned out to be a goldsmith. After two years as an apprentice, he continued his technical vocational training in Hanau and Hanover before joining the Design Academy in Hanau, where he really discovered the discipline of contemporary jewellery and its range of possibilities. After graduating in 2004, he went on to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Otto Künzli, where he remained until 2010. Blank specialises in sculpture in a variety of materials, including high-density hard foam and corian, a synthetic material obtained by mixing minerals and acrylic resin.
