A look back at the 2019 Continuing Education and Mastering Courses Students Gala

Blog, News, Exhibitions

Last Thursday, April 11, was the 2019 Continuing Education and Mastering Courses Students Gala. This annual event highlights the creative richness of our students of all ages and backgrounds.

More than 300 students and professionals from our programs were asked to submit one or two pieces of jewellery representative of their knowledge and skills acquired during their training. The pieces presented were all made between April 2018 and March 2019, as part of the basic jewellery techniques program and/or the specialized techniques workshops. The resulting exhibition brings together jewellery pieces that respect traditional techniques and materials, such as precious metals and precious stones, together with contemporary art jewellery pieces, which use various alternative materials and techniques.

This year, we invited a jury composed of Caroline Rivière, jeweller, Lauriane Lognay, gemologist, and Catherine Villeneuve, jeweller and teacher at the ÉJM, to select the awards of excellence, which are given to students who have distinguished themselves through their work. We also offered a Public Choice Award, for which people attending the gala could vote throughout the evening. The winners of the various awards of excellence receive, in addition to this honourable mention, continuing education and mastering courses offered by the ÉJM. Congratulations to all the winners!
