Come celebrate Nuit blanche with us!

On March 2nd, 2019, from 8:30 pm to 2 am, the École de joaillerie de Montréal will open its doors for the 16th edition of MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE festival’s Nuit blanche. Visitors will be introduced to both hand fabrication and digital fabrication, the two main approaches used in contemporary jewellery design.

All night long, our students, alumni and instructors will lead guided tours and will present various techniques involved in jewellery fabrication: ingot making, metal transformation, soldering, assembling, polishing, lapidary art, etc. Visitors will also have the opportunity to order custom band rings which will be made on site by our students, during the same evening. The band ring sale is a fundraising initiative for the DEC 2019 graduate exhibition.

Visitors will also get a firsthand experience with digital fabrication on Rhino 3D. They will have access to computers showing simple jewellery models, which they will be able to modify through various parameters affecting thickness, shape and textures.

Visitors will also get a chance to dicover the exhibition ‘The Intangibility of Identity‘, which is presented at ÉJM’s gallery space until March 18.
