Montreal’s Galerie Noel Guyomarc’h is once again going to SOFA international fair (Sculpture Objects Functional Art and design), in Chicago, for the fourth year in a row. Now running since 1994, SOFA Chicago is a major event in the field of arts and design, and is entirely dedicated to three dimensional works that cross the borders between fine art, decorative art and design. Rather than presenting artists directly, SOFA works with galleries and dealers who themselves represent artists and their work.
This year, Galerie Noel Guyomarc’h will be presenting the largest selection of Quebec artists at such an event. American collectors will be able to see recent collections by some of ÉJM’s teachers, including Matthieu Cheminée, Christine Larochelle, Pierre-Yves Paquette and Petra Luz, and our alumni Lawrence Woodford, Gabrielle Desmarais, Aurélie Guillaume, Anne-Sophie Vallée, Magali Thibault Gobeil, Josée Desjardins and Catherine Granche. Their works will be shown alongside pieces by Quebec artists Silvie Altschuler, Catherine Sheedy, Barbara Stutman, Janis Kerman and Marie-Eve G. Castonguay. A selection of other national and international artists will complete this high calibre selection.
The event also includes a series of lectures, and Marie-Eve G. Castonguay will be on the the speakers in the SNAG Emerging Artists series. Nova Scotia based artist Kye-Yeon Son will also be presenting a lecture amongst other established artists.
